This organization is for Columbia war gamers to find opponents, mainly, and to organize both two-player and multi-player conflict games of many varieties, from traditional hexagonal-map-and-cardboard-counters games to painted fantasy naval miniatures and wooden-block games and even, yes...war-oriented card games.

Note: the following game possibilities for days that we have the library room are just suggestions, feel free to volunteer to lead a multiplayer game that you like. A system of voting for multiplayer games is being developed. If you want to schedule a multiplayer game at Valhalla's Gate some other time, just email or call Sabryin. We try to keep to "conflict" games, but sometimes the category is a little diffuse. For instance, "Parthenon" is definitely a trading/development game and "Mythology" has no armies in it, (although there is plenty of conflict)....but they are included in our repetoire because they are great games.
CURRENT BLURB: July 25th afternoon--there ocurred two teaching games of "Race for the Galaxy" that Puma gave for Sabryin. Puma won both games but the game play was learned and it was very enjoyable and it's a great game. Good news, Puma will try to attend the game at the library on the 7th of August, and also he was positive on the idea of leading a tournament of it sometime.
July 24th--Naval Day at DA's house...GG and CW as the Italians did well against EB's British, but the victory was narrowly decided in EB's favor. DA graciously moderated the game but didn't participate as a player.
July 23rd-One game of "Roll Through the Ages" was won by Sabryin and one by EB in a Friday night game festival at the Tiger's Den. In the first game, Sabryin got lucky with food production and dodged disaster points, while he succeeded in building both the Great Pyramid and the Great Wall. For a change, Sabryin developed Medicine, which helped him. BR and EB had food production problems, but EB used masonry well and BR was getting a shipping empire going, but the game ended too fast to take full advantage of that. In the second game, EB and BR both suffered invasions, but by the time that happened to EB, he had completed the Great Wall and was protected. He did well with the Quarrying development and won many bonus points by getting the commerce development also.
July 17th- Soldier Kings was led by NO and won by CW as the French. GG with the Brits came in second, and Austria under NO came in next, despite being picked on by the other three players. Sabryin's Prussia was down to two provinces at the end of the winter turn 1757, when the French had enough resources to gain an automatic victory. The game was characterized by the desire of the French and British to tread lightly on each other's toes, at least until end-game.
July 16th-Suprise! Runewars Tournament game #2 materialized at the last minute (all the stars were right) and was won by the Shrike with 6 runes. Puma came in second with 4 runes, Sabryin got 3 runes, and GG got 2 again. It all came down to GG finally killing on off the last Dragon, which both Puma and the Shrike were waiting for to use it with cards, but the Shrike got to take advantage of the Dragon-death first and won. This win put the Shrike ahead of Puma in the Tournament totals by one dragon rune. Players agreed that the last game of the tournament would be an Epic game, a "grande finale", so to speak. The next game is scheduled for Friday evening, July 30th, at 6 p.m. at the Gate.
July 9th-The first game of the CWGG Runewars 2010 Tournament was won by the Puma in the fifth year of the game with six Dragon Runes. The Shrike gathered five runes, Sabryin four and GG two.
July 7th- An anonymous supporter has contributed $20.00 towards the pot in the CWGG Runewars 2010 Tournament...it will be added to the entry fees to buy a Valhalla's Gate gift certificate for the winner.
June 26th- Z led a five-player game of "Republic of Rome" wherein the Roman Republic survived and we finished about half the game in a day at the library, but no winner was declared, although one of GG's senators was so close that he had to be assassinated.
June 25th- an evening game of "Warlords of Europe" was won by Ch, and GG and Sabryin also played. The three players in our first game agreed that it had a lot in common with "Axis & Allies."
June 23rd- evening game of "Uncharted Seas" between Sabryin's Dragonlord fleet and Tyche's Shroud Mage fleet. The match ended with the Dragonlord battleship striking her colors after all other ships in her fleet were sunk or captured by the Shroud Mages.
June 19th- EB's British frigate "Nymphe" sunk my French frigate "Cleopatre" in a brief "Wooden Ships and Iron Men" encounter. The Runewars tournament will begin on Friday, July 9th, at 6 p.m. at Valhalla's Gate.
June 11th- RC won a three-player game of "Runewars" with the Undead hordes, while Puma also competed with the Elves and the Shrike played the Chaos masses.
June 4th- Alexander's body was successfully buried in the Macedonian capital by the general Perdiccas (controlled by Sabryin) in a game of "Successors" in which Puma, the Shrike, and GG also played on June 4th, 2010. Everything dovetailed perfectly for Sabryin, and with some good advice from his opponents, he made a run for it with the funeral cart. Elements of his good luck were: (a) he started with the best general, (b) he had the body from the beginning, (c) he drew all the cards that allowed a theft of the body, (d) the Shrike left him alone in the East, waiting to grab his territories if he failed to bury the body, (e) Puma and GG bled each other dry in the West, clearing the way for Perdiccas' mad dash.

RUNEWARS TOURNAMENT
Beginning on July 9th, 2010 , we will have a Runewars tournament. On many, but not all, Friday nights at 6 pm at Valhalla's Gate, we will run either learning games of Runewars or, if there are no new players and all players have joined the tournament, official tournament competition games. Five dollar entry fee, winner takes the pot at the end of the tournament (Five Tournament games are scheduled but if needed more can be run). You can play in up to five tournament games and count the three highest number of Dragon Runes that you collect in your total, highest total wins the tournament. The prize will be in the form of a gift certificate to Valhalla's Gate. Only games with four players will be official tournament games, although learning games may have as few as two players. Races for players will be drawn randomly each time, and if someone gets the same race multiple times, that is their fate and cannot be affected by mere mortals such as we. We will be using the exploration optional rule, and the last game will be an Epic contest.
